Overview

Passwords resets may be optional, may be enforced as a security measure by your Organization, or may become necessary when you forget or lose your password. There are a number of ways to update your password based on the scenario you find yourself in.

Please note, this page only focuses on User Accounts that are managed by an Active Directory. You may have received an impending expiry notification from our system that has linked you to this page.

Scenarios

Use the following definitions to determine which scenario applies to your situation, then you can jump to that solution.

  1. Domain Joined Workstation, In Office: Typically these are systems within the Corporate building attached to the network either with Ethernet or wirelessly, therefore these are behind the Firewall.
  2. Domain Joined Workstation, Out of Office: Connected via VPN, these units are away from the Corporate building, therefore the Firewall is between them and the network.
  3. Remote Controlled Workstation: You are controlling a Domain Joined Workstation that is behind the firewall from a remote system, such as your home system.
  4. Azure Joined Workstation: Your system belongs to an Azure Domain (“connected to the cloud”).

Remember that when you change your password, this will become your new Logon Password for Windows. NOTE: This action often changes your eMail password to match (this is quite common – you will be prompted to enter new password if this is the case), so you may need to update your phone, tablets or other devices that use your eMail.

Your new password will need to meet the mandatory restrictions in place by your Organization. This usually includes mixed case, symbol inclusion, and never used before policies. Details about password complexity can be found at this link if you want more information.
